“Everyone I interacted with on the therapeutic side was amazing. There were a lot of people that I was grateful to be a part of their groups and guided by, and then there was the owner. I received as great of care as what the people that stuck around could give, but most of them left by the time I graduated. There's only so much they could do before the politician that uses the place to boost her voting or "disciplines" clients showed up to make final decisions. I did lapse when I was under OCC's care and everyone that I interacted with on a day to day basis was great. The owner always had a chip on her shoulder and wanted to have control over everything, making decisions unilaterally against what the people that actually were there to oversee and interact with clients had to say. Dr. Frederick is an amazing provider, smart, caring, and actually human. There are more that were great, but they left for better job environments, or they're there as contractors. Be prepared to be treated differently if you are not black. I respect the difficulty of this field and those that work in it. There is a reason they cannot retain employees though. Otherwise I'm grateful for the opportunity to get out of my addiction in a safe place with people that care. Not sure if those people are still there. Thanks OCC, I do appreciate your help. “Unlike it says on their website, the initial housing they place you in for the first 90 days does not have private bathrooms in each room and do not all have air conditioning. You’re lucky if you get AC. The owner/operator is too cheap to have things fixed (even though she drives a $300k car around, we know, she parks it out front when she decides to stoop down to brush shoulders with us addicts). Clothing dryer has been broken since July. There’s only one currently operating for the entire building. Can’t even keep basic needs like paper towels and toilet paper stocked. The staff take money out of their own pocket to buy things. I don’t want to dig on this place too hard because there are amazing folks who work very hard who are very dedicated to helping people in recovery. The group programming is diverse and stimulating and very intuitive. The doctors, therapist and team are extremely nice and patient and approachable. I think this is a great place to come and work on your sobriety if you know what you’re getting into. The owner/operator Shannon needs to take a pay cut and put funds back into the program. Sorry not sorry.”
